Soseki Natsume's I Am A Cat: The Manga Edition – Natsume | Kobato – (208 pages, English, softcover, publiced by Tuttle Publishing)

I Am A Cat

A manga adaptation of the literary masterpiece ‘I Am A Cat’ by Soseki Natsume ('Wagahai wa Neko de Aru' - 1906). The narrator is a nameless cat who, as a kitten, ends up with the not-so-bright teacher Kushami. From the perspective of the cynical stray cat, we follow the ups and downs of the affluent Japanese middle class at the beginning of the 20th century. The cat's internal monologue and sharp commentary on human intrigues make the book highly entertaining.

This edition, beautifully illustrated by Japanese artist Chiroru Kobato, offers a visually appealing and captivating glimpse into a unique period in Japanese history—full of cultural and societal changes, rapid modernization, and a sense of boundless possibilities—through the eyes of a stray cat.
