In ‘It Rhymes With Takei’, we read about his lifelong struggle with his sexual orientation, but also how, after coming out at the age of 68, he dedicated himself to the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. But above all, it is a description of a rich life full of remarkable encounters and experiences.

George Takei (1937) is particularly famous for his portrayal of Hikaru Sulu in the original Star Trek series (1966–1969). In addition to his career as an actor, he became a prominent advocate for immigrant rights, human rights, and the LGBTQ+ community. Takei's life was marked by many twists and turns, not least the captivity of his family during World War II, as described in ‘They Called Us Enemy’. ‘It Rhymes With Takei’ is not only a description of the life of a passionate person, but also of surviving under the pressure of societal stigmas.
