A Guest in the House - Emily Carroll – (256 pages, English, hardcover, published by Faber)

A Guest in the House

Introverted housewife Abby lives with the slightly older widower David and Crystal, his daughter from a previous marriage. They got married last year and recently moved into a house by the lake together. Abby has no friends, no extended family, and is often withdrawn. Stepdaughter Crystal still seems to be struggling greatly with the loss of her mother. When Crystal mentions that she still sees her deceased mother often, she appears to Abby as well. The ghost carries a terrible secret, and Abby searches for answers behind her mysterious death…

‘A Guest in the House’ is a bloodcurdling murder mystery and horror story rolled into one. Comic artist Emily Carroll, known for ‘Through the Woods’, delivers a true page-turner with this. Like no other, the comic artist knows how to combine psychological horror, erotica, and suspense into an unmissable story with unexpected plot twists. It is not surprising that director Guillermo del Toro recommended this fantastic graphic novel: ‘Carroll’s voice is unique and powerful and I, for one, am addicted to it’.
